TIA Standards? It doesn't matter that the Electricians don't use them......
We won't bore you further with the details........................
...........................................Perhaps you'd like to read about the practice?
Decide for youself:
When debugging a network where many workers reported that on some days they couldn't logon, and when they could, everything ran so slow it was unusable we finally established that only 1 in 2 outlets worked, and those that did only ran at 10Mbs not the rated 100Mbs.
We plugged a standard telephone into the Cat5 network, which, to our amusement, was tuned in Radio 1: we could even sing along! Was this a factor? Was Radio 1 corrupting the network traffic? Of course it was.
The emc coupling between the 240V mains & the data network was only partly to blame, numerous other cabling related faults existed as well and it was unlikely that these computers were ever going to work properly.
We'll leave it to you to decide if a Cat5 installation that was in fact one big aerial was desirable.
We'll leave it to you to ponder quite how one would approach the boss to explain that the new infrastructure that was installed by the builders doesn't quite deliver - and if you'd still have a job if you broach the subject of re-installation.
And how do you avoid this? Get your infrastructure properly designed and installed by a specialist company.
